Sterba's Cory

These long-lived armored catfish are ideal for the general community aquarium. They feature a pattern of white dots on a dark background on the head area and distinctive peach-colored fins. An albino variety is also available. They are shoaling fish that should be kept in groups of 5 or more in a large aquarium. Because they are active foragers, they require a soft sand substrate to protect their delicate sensory barbels. Unlike many other Corydoras species, Sterba's Cory is suitable for warmer water temperatures, making them compatible with species like Discus. They are active during the day, foraging through substrate, but also benefit from planted areas and hiding places.
