Cookie Policy

My LocalLink (Pty) Ltd uses cookies and similar browser storage (localStorage, sessionStorage and service worker caches) to run the platform, keep you signed in, remember your preferences and protect your account.

Categories of Cookies & Storage

  • Authentication cookies
Keep you signed in securely and protect your session from tampering. These are essential — the app will not work without them.
  • Preference cookies. Remember your active town, theme, notification and language choices so you don't have to reconfigure them every visit.
  • Security cookies. Protect against cross-site request forgery, session hijacking and other abuse; used to enforce sign-in and rate limits.
  • Session cookies. Temporary values used while a page is open — such as unsaved drafts, in-progress forms and search filters. Cleared when the tab closes.
  • Local storage. Persistent key/value storage in your browser used for offline support, cached lookups and remembered settings.
  • Service worker & PWA cache. Stores app assets and recent data so the app loads quickly and continues to function on unstable connections.

Cookie Lifespan

  • Session cookies — cleared when you close the browser tab.
  • Authentication cookies — remain until you sign out or the session expires (typically up to a few weeks of inactivity).
  • Preference cookies & local storage — remain until you clear browser data or reset the app.
  • Service worker cache — refreshed automatically as new app versions are released.

Cookies We May Introduce

  • Analytics. Aggregated, privacy-respecting analytics to help us understand which features are used and improve the platform.
  • Advertising. If we introduce third-party advertising in future, related cookies will be disclosed here and controllable in-app.

Managing Cookies

Most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies from Settings > Privacy. You can also clear the My LocalLink app storage from your browser or from the app's Settings screen. Disabling essential cookies will sign you out and prevent the app from working correctly.

Third-Party Services

The platform relies on trusted infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email, push notifications, payment gateways). Those services set their own cookies or tokens strictly for delivering the requested functionality. See the Privacy Policy for a full description of data handling.
